“The Horse’s Mouth” – Maintaining Growth

Welcome to “The Horse’s Mouth” with Tom McManus, a unique talk show where guests belly up to the bar to discuss business, technology, marketing, and life. No gossip, no hearsay, no BS, just the truth, straight from the source.

This week, Tom spoke with Mike White from BluHorn, Dr. Ravi Raheja from Triagelogic, James Lampke from Robert Half Technology, Dan Riggsby from Boyd & Jenerette, and Joy Fulton from Clearsense about maintaining growth in your business from an IT perspective.

Where does Jacksonville stand when it comes to technological growth?

Dr. Ravi Raheja

From what I understand, we are actually one of the top cities when it comes to technology.

James Lampke

We are in the top-ten and fluctuate between eight and nine. What’s beautiful is it’s not just Jacksonville that has that ranking, it’s Florida. Miami, Orlando, Tampa, we are all there. It’s a great time to be in technology and health care. The biggest industries in Jacksonville right now is healthcare, logistics, and banking. All of these industries are moving towards being cutting edge in technology.

How do you handle maintaining growth within businesses like law firms?

Dan Riggsby

What I spend a lot of time doing is reassessing our systems. I find out what we can do to grow, what we can do remotely. A recent development is that over the last few years 15 percent of our workforce actually works from home now. That gives us the ability to recruit anywhere. We train them in our technology and provide them with our full set up in order to make sure they are all up to speed.

How is technology handled in healthcare?

Joy Fulton

From a talent pool perspective, we’re actually utilizing the living standard of Jacksonville Florida to recruit from Silicon Valley. It allows us to take the cost of living and put it on a showcase perspective and pull all the talent from the West Coast here. Subsequently in terms of what we provide. We’ve landed some of the largest hospital logos within the entire country. So our footprint is expansive from coast to coast. Here in town, we had a 600 percent growth last year. It’s a very exciting time.

Dr. Ravi Raheja

Our growth is mostly in the nursing area and we use I.T. obviously. One of the ways we use it is with our call centers which are all remote which allows people to be spread out. It’s all about having standardized processes and checklists in a standard way, bringing people on knowing what they have access to. That way if there is a turnover you know what to take away.
